The colour red has numerous connotations. I am reminded of characters in fairy tales: Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and Alice in Wonderland. In each of these stories the colour red was used symbolically in their illustrations.
In Snow White, the forbidden red apple brings her to her death. I’ve used the apple as a metaphor and turned it into a locket that depicts the apple as a whole, as a slice, as well as  with a bite. These depictions are to remind us to be cautious to our surroundings and that things may not be as they appear.

With nature as inspiration, my body of work utilizes the intriguing and ongoing transformations that occur throughout life. Using the erotic beauty of the neck as a backdrop, my neckpieces and earrings incorporate seeds and leaves interwoven with imagery of eggs and sperms to reinforce the notion that human beings are strongly bound to nature.

As an inspiration from the movie, A Girl with Pearl Earring, love is sometimes forbidden. Therefore, I designed a cage with natural rose petals to convey my idea of untouchable love. The cage took on a tear-drop shape representing the sadness and pain from Griet. Moreover, the rose petals represented passion. Unfortunately, the reality is that the world doesn’t go in the way we anticipate it to be, nor does love.

Use wire and sheet to create volume and depth for objects without disobeying their natural form.

Quit smoking is a challenge for most people. I find it ironic how they always say about quitting smoke while puffing at the same time.
