In a peaceful Saturday afternoon...

I made my friend a necklace for her coming birthday. It's a square with tiny twist which I made the surface uneven. I got the idea from looking at a pile of papers on my desk. Some are smooth and new, and some are wrinkly and folded. The wrinkly paper has an appealing surface which it looks natural and organic somehow. I cropped it and added to the square for giving it a special feature!

Couple Rings

I recently made a pair of couple rings for Mr. Hans and Ms. Amy. Every year, they have a tradition to purchase rings for celebrating their anniversary. Luckily, I was chosen to design for them and to be included in this wonderful celebration.

Instead of plain band ring, I made the first capital letter stood out, and sew and pierced the rest of letters in wax, then cast in sterling silver.

Stackable Rings

Here are beautiful stackable rings I made for BlackBird for part of their new collection. They are elegant and stylish while wearing them either alone or all three together. More alternation could be made with choices of synthetic or semi-precious gems and etc...BlackBird will have a Trunk Show on December 1st at 249 Crawford St., Toronto Ontario ( Miracle Thieves). Enjoy a sip of cider and beautiful jewellery!

A Present

This is a 14 Y, 14 W gold with palladium and sterling silver mokume gane bangle I made for my mother. Making mokume gane requires complex process, skill and patience. Although I learned it couples years ago while studying at OCAD, I have never tried and made it into an object because it looked very difficult at the time. After years of practicing, I finally have the confiedence to challenge mokume gane! During the process, I was almost emotionally break down and given up. However, I kept myself going, thinking how wonderful it would become once it's done. So I did it. The beautiful pattern was created from grinding a 12 layers of three different types of metal I have soldered. Here is one suggestion if you like to try. When you just start, you may want to work with less expensive metal for practicing such as a combination of cooper and sterling silver or nickle silver and sterling silver.

ps. I think my mom really likes it since she wears it everyday!

I have been working on ginkgo leaves and making molds for them. I glued each leaf on a piece of wax sheet in order to increase its thickness so it's easy to cast. Before pouring the paste without shifting them, I glued those leaves on the bottom of the box. Wait for a day for the molds to dry and they're ready to go! This an experiment, I am not sure how it will turn out. Wish me luck!
